First established in the year 2006, Chef Alexandre Vialatte curated the best homemade dishes with care and an added touch of international flair.
Chef Alex fell in love with the art and science of food at a young age and was introduced to the world of professional cooking in Lyon, France. He traveled to Thailand in 2002 and learnt the ropes of Thai cuisine at The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. Combining his love and knowledge together, he took the role of Executive Chef of the Buriraya Resort & Spa, one of Koh Samui’s first five-star hotel where he oversaw a team of 40 and responsible for the daily operations to ensure the success and viability of the resort.
Chef Alex enriched his cuisine endeavors and returned to his family’s Ban Kaew Villas, a collection of hundred-year-old Thai villas, where he pre-opened the Lotus Pond. The Lotus Pond was renowned by many Chefs and locals to be the first of its kind, and one of the best restaurants on the island. Chef Alex later became the Executive Chef of SALA Samui and now currently owns the Bistrot Firmin le Barbier in the heart of Paris, France.
The Lotus Pond continues to blossom, stemming from Chef Alex’s laid foundation and philosophy. Now a delightful pavilion, the Lotus Pond proposes delicious Thai contemporary dishes to help ease all visitors into authentic Thai hospitality; where happy hearts and full stomachs is the love language of the Thais.
